Good Girl Gladys Farmette sprang from my need to prioritize my mental health after years of burnout as a school counselor and foster parent. With unwavering support from Dave—who has lent encouragement, Excel expertise, and lots of manual labor—we’ve created a space that reflects our values and passions. The farmette is named in memory of our beloved pit bull, Gladys, who brought joy and a bit of mischief to our garden before passing away in 2024.
Our produce is Certified Naturally Grown, ensuring that everything is cultivated to the highest organic standards, free from synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and GMOs. We focus on growing heirloom vegetables, celebrating their rich history and delicious taste. I love heirlooms because they connect us to the past and always have beautiful stories to tell.
We proudly raise a growing flock of heritage chickens and ducks at the farmette. We refer to them as heritage because they are traditional breeds that have not been genetically altered for rapid growth or high egg production. During the day, our birds roam freely across one acre, enjoying a natural diet of bugs, grass, and fresh air instead of being confined indoors or outside in pens. They are safeguarded by our fiesty Chinese geese and our motley crew of dogs: Tanner, Brownie, Hope, and Keo.
